How I Began Selling Wedding Hankies 29 Years Ago

Hi! My name is Kathryn (Katie) Murphy. This is my website. Welcome! I work at my office/warehouse in Huntington Beach, California. This is where I print on wedding hankies and write wedding poems. I've been selling hankies for 29 years.

I am so lucky to have my best friend of 50+ years; Debbie,  working with me. In 1964 we moved into homes on the same day and we were next door neighbors. It is such a gift to have a friend who has known you since you were 4 and she was 3.

We spend our days working on the hankie orders, laughing, confiding and inspiring each other.

For many years I sold wedding hankies across the U.S.A. in boutique and bridal shops. After about 12 years I decided that the only way to customize the hankies with my poems was to sell them over the internet.

The Poem Printed Hankies

It's only been the last 13 years since I have added printing on wedding hankies. This new technology made it possible for me to put entire poems on hankies. Embroidery of an entire poem just does not wash and iron up as nicely as I would like. Since offering our printed hankies we have been so pleased with the response to them. Each one is edited, typeset and printed with care, as if we were giving it ourselves. The hankies look beautiful and the printing is water fast so after they are used for tears of joy they can be hand washed and they iron up beautifully to be tucked away as a sentimental keepsake.

How I Began My 29 Year Career in Wedding Hankies

29 years ago my friend Mary was getting married. I was looking through my wedding scrapbook and I saw the hankie I used on my wedding day. I opened it up and it had a lipstick stain on it. I realized that so many years ago after my new husband was told to kiss the bride, I wiped the lipstick off his lips and here on this hankie was the remnants of our wedding kiss.

Always sentimental, I decided to make Mary a hankie and write her a poem to tell her to save her wedding kiss on her hankie. I gave her the hankie and poem at her bridal shower and everyone cried when she read the poem out loud. So many people said I should start a business and so I did. It let me stay home to raise by two sons.

It's not very many people who get to create ways for people to say thank you and I love you. What a gift sharing my hankies and poems have been to me and still they still are.

We are so glad you stopped by and if you have any questions please message us. We are happy to reply.
